ACTING WORKSHOPS

Acting workshops are a fun and exciting way to learn everything there is to know about this type of career. Some people enjoy acting at local community theaters while other people hope to one-day appear on the big screen. No matter what your aspiration, the right workshops can make all the difference in the world. To give you an idea of the options you have, we have put together some valuable information.

Remember, although each workshop is a little different, each is designed to help develop career skills, regardless of the level. Let us start with the "Explorer Class", which is your basic acting class. Here, you will learn about the fundamentals of acting, developing a natural and believable style in front of the camera. With this particular workshop, you will be responsible for playing a role in several scenes and with several monologues. The goal with this type of workshop is to encourage skill growth and to teach students to portray the scene in a natural way that is convincing to the audience.

Another excellent workshop is the intermediate class. With this, you will learn how to work more effectively on scenes and go through specific exercises that will take you a step further to being a professional actor. Because this class is so beneficial, you will find many students taking it more than once. In fact, many actors will come back to take this class to hone their skills. Although the length of the class can vary, this one typically runs between six and eight weeks.

If you are interested in scene study, then a "Sunday Night Actor's Workout" would be the ideal choice. With this, the Meisner approach to acting is used to develop your craft or to help existing actors stay at the top of their game. Because the class size is small, each student has excellent time with the instructor and individualized attention. "Film Acting" is another great workshop whereby the goal is to teach students how to work with the camera while understanding the needs involved during the acting sessions. You will gain insight into shooting with a crew for different scenes and locations so each one is perfect. Other aspects of this workshop include the do's and don'ts of set etiquette and cold reading. In addition, you will have the opportunity to be critiqued, which is beneficial for learning your strengths and weaknesses.

"Film Acting 1" is the perfect workshop for advanced students. This class will have you create and shoot a sitcom. Other aspects include putting film together by working with the crew, acting in roles (written especially for you), and originating character. Since the scenes are all shot with digital camera, at the end of the workshop, you will walk away with a professionally edited tape that can be used in your portfolio for directors, agents, and producers. "Acting for Teens" and "Acting for Kids" are both workshops designed for the younger generation. For the teenagers, they will earn to improvise, study scenes, and work on monologues and commercials, and gain new insight into acting in general. For the young kids, they will go through entry levels of cold reading, acting exercises, improvisation, scenes and monologues, and more.

You might also consider an "Audition Bookcamp" whereby you gain a higher level of confidence. Although this particular workshop is tough, it is well worth the investment of time and money. You will walk away with better skill for handling the stress of acting while also learning techniques for corporate film training, theater, commercials, and auditions. Finally, the "Cold Reading Class" is a great way to go through scenes and situations where you might otherwise be uncomfortable. Acting brings about a keen sense of self, making it a very intimidating career for many people. However, with this type of workshop, you will learn how to handle those pressures in a productive manner.
